Chapter Philanthropy & Service

In addition to national partners, collegiate chapters also support local causes through philanthropic fundraising and hands-on service on their campuses and in their local communities.

Alpha Sigma Tau at the University of Southern Indiana provides a great experience for volunteering and philanthropic events.  Throughout each semester we participate in multiple service opportunities including: Evansville Rescue Mission, Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, Vanderburgh Humane Society’s FIDO 5K, Frog Follies, Easter Seals Rehabilitation Phone-a-thon, Relay for Life, Heritage Artisan Days, and much more.  Through these volunteer opportunities we have met many wonderful individuals and by doing so continue to excel in one of our core values, connections.

Each semester we hold an exciting event in which the money raised is donated to our National and Local Philanthropies.  In the fall we put on a game night in order to help our National Philanthropy, Pine Mountain Settlement School.  Hollywood Game Night was started in the fall of 2015.  This high intensity night involves teams battling against one another in games similar to charades and many more events that will make you laugh till your stomach hurts.  Hollywood Game Night last ended with raising $550 for our National Philanthropy.

When spring rolls around it is time to get your cooking skills mastered for our annual event, tASTe.  We donate the money from tASTe to our local philanthropy S.M.I.L.E on Down Syndrome.  tASTe involves teams of 4-6 individuals showing off their skills to compete against other teams in the ultimate cook-off.  The event takes place on Franklin Street at the West Side Library Park where you can enjoy fresh food, nice weather, and great music.  tASTe’s last total to benefit S.M.I.L.E on Down Syndrome was over $4,500.
